Admission Possible Seniors Setting the Pace in College Scholarship Awards

13 Gates Millennium Scholarships and 34 Horatio Alger Scholarships Awarded

ST PAUL, Minn. – Low-income seniors participating in Admission Possible’s programming in the Greater Twin Cities are winning national and local scholarships at rates higher than even last year’s successful Admission Possible seniors.  Already, Admission Possible seniors are averaging 5.5 private scholarship applications per student, and more than 150 scholarships have been awarded to Admission Possible seniors this year, including the nationally recognized Gates Millennium and Horatio Alger Scholarships.  Click here for full release and audio files. 

Admission Possible is a nonprofit organization founded in September of 2000 and dedicated to helping promising, low-income students obtain admission to college. We serve 1,200 students in 15 public high schools and charter schools in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Robbinsdale and St. Louis Park.

• Overall, 98% of the students we assisted have been admitted to college.
  
  
• Approximately 80% of our students who enrolled in college are still working toward their college degree or have graduated.  By comparison, only 7% of all low-income students nationwide earn a college degree by age 24 (Education Trust).
  
  
• Students in our program have shown an average ACT score improvement of greater than 18%! Leading for-profit companies, by comparison, advertise average increases of 12-14%.
