Maria began working at Admission Possible in August of 2004 and has served the organization in multiple capacities, most recently as Senior Development Officer. She is responsible for supporting all annual revenue goals and development activities related to institutional funding and development operations for the organization. She serves as the lead fund development officer for foundation, corporate, government and other institutional giving and implements all components of the strategic fundraising plan for institutional funders including: prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. She manages all funder proposals and reports. She also leads all development operations for the organization, including fundraising database management, gift processing and other fundraising protocols. Maria has several years of experience in nonprofit administration functions, including operations, communications and development.
Maria’s interest in Admission Possible stems from her personal experience as a low-income high school student. Growing up in the inner cities of St. Louis and Chicago, many of her promising friends and classmates were unable to gather the financial and moral support to gain college admission. Maria feels fortunate to have earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in May of 2001.
Maria lives in Minneapolis with her husband, Dan, and enjoys running, reading, discovering and tackling new challenges of being a first-time home and dog owner and enjoying all the cultural and natural attractions Minnesota has to offer.
