On May 19th, nearly 800 students from Admission Possible’s 13 partnering high schools joined former, current, and future AmeriCorps members and staff at the University of Minnesota’s Northrop Auditorium to honor the seniors, celebrate the juniors, and welcome the sophomores. For this, our sixth annual Year-End Celebration, senior coaches took to the stage with their students, introducing every member of the Class of 2007 to an exuberant crowd. The excitement in the room grew throughout the day as the college-going plans of nearly 300 seniors were announced, and with student performances ranging from spoken word to skits and cultural fashion shows, there was entertainment aplenty! Students were honored for best attendance, most scholarships applied for, and greatest ACT increase, with prizes distributed in each category.
During the lunch hour, students ate pizza and participated in a variety of activities. Sophomore and juniors, led by the University of Minnesota admissions staff, participated in University of Minnesota trivia games. Seniors, joined by Admission Possible alums, attended breakout sessions centered around meeting other students that would be attending their future college, and speaking about what to expect at those institutions in the fall. The dedication of our students and coaches is so very apparent at the Year-End Celebration, and this year’s event was truly a spectacular day. Congratulations to the Class of 2007!
