ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester graduate, Anna Farrell, has joined the leadership team of nonprofit organization Admission Possible where she will serve as a Program Coordinator overseeing the college preparatory coaching of low-income high school students in the Twin Cities.  After graduating from Macalester in 2006, Farrell spent two years as an Admission Possible coach at St. Paul’s Central High School, concluding her second AmeriCorps term of service last month.  She joined the Admission Possible leadership team on July 21, 2008.  Click here for full release. 

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Admission Possible is featured in a national report released this month by the U.S. Congress’ Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance, based in Washington, DC.  The report, “Early and Often: Designing a Comprehensive System of Financial Aid Information,” provided Admission Possible’s results-oriented evaluation efforts as an example of using evaluation to guide work done on behalf of the organization’s constituency. 

ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Paul native, Ashley Booker, has joined the staff of nonprofit organization Admission Possible where she will serve as a Program Coordinator overseeing the college preparatory coaching of low-income high school students in the Twin Cities, including at her alma mater Humboldt High School.  Booker, who started with Admission Possible on June 16, 2008, graduated from the University of Minnesota and is currently working on a Master’s degree at Augsburg College.  Click here for full release.

ST PAUL, Minn. – Low-income seniors participating in Admission Possible’s programming in the Greater Twin Cities are winning national and local scholarships at rates higher than even last year’s successful Admission Possible seniors.  Already, Admission Possible seniors are averaging 5.5 private scholarship applications per student, and more than 150 scholarships have been awarded to Admission Possible seniors this year, including the nationally recognized Gates Millennium and Horatio Alger Scholarships.  Click here for full release and audio clips.

PAUL, Minn. – College-bound high school seniors nationwide have come to know May 1 as ‘decision day’ – the deadline by which students must accept or reject admissions and financial aid pending offers from colleges and universities.  While low-income students across the country will enter college at less than one-third the rate of their wealthier peers [Post Secondary Education Opportunity, June 2006], Admission Possible’s low-income seniors are proving why this does not have to be the case.  Click here for full release and audio clips.
